Breeding Experiment on Mutation by Irradiation

Abstract
This studies were carried out to find the biological effects of X-and r-ray irradiation on dry seeds of Chinese cabbage and Chinese radish. The results obtained are summarized as follows:
1) Germination and survival rate were irregular and there were no differences between varieties or treatments in both Chinese cabbage and Chinese radish with increase of dosage.
2) In R©û generation, abnormal leaves from seedling of irradiated seeds were observed in higher dosage.
3) Seedling height and number of younger leaves were decreased with increase of dosage.
4) The radiosensitivity were some apparent in $quot;Kyong-Sam$quot; of Chinese cabbage but Chinese radish it was some different by each radiation sources.
5) Growth inhibition, decrease of number of younger leaf and occurrence of abnormal leaf in the irradiated generation were more remarkable in ¥ã-ray treatment. In general, cruciferous crops were more tolerant to radiation in comparison with other crops.
